UK sanctions Russian companies for flouting UN embargo on arms trade with North Korea

The British Government announced this Friday new sanctions against two Russian companies and the director of one of them for their alleged relationship with the violation of UN Security Council resolutions on the arms embargo on North Korea, in line with those announced by the United States and Australia.

Those identified by the British authorities are the companies Russian Eastern Stevedoring Company LLC, which is accused of “obtaining benefits thanks to cooperation with the Russian Government by operating in an area of ​​strategic importance.”

For its part, TBK JSC (Fuel and Bunker Company), as well as its director, Alexei Vorotnikov, have been accused of allowing ships subject to UN restrictions to refuel at their facilities in the port of Vostochny, in the western Russia.

Likewise, the British authorities have imposed new sanctions against the North Korean shipping company Paekyangsan, for transporting oil products between Russia and the Asian country, thus contravening United Nations resolutions.
