French police have shot dead a man who wanted to set fire to a synagogue in the northern city of Rouen. It was announced by the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, on X early this Friday.
“In Rouen, the national police this morning quickly neutralized an individual who wanted to set fire to the city’s synagogue. I congratulate them for their reactivity and courage,” confirmed the minister.
According to witnesses cited by local media, the man expressed his intention to set fire to the city’s synagogue. The individual also had a knife with which he attacked a police officer.
