Today this requirement may seem trivial to most, but Ubisoft has shown that the servers of its games (such as The Crew) have an expiration date.

“Following some questions from the community, we want to share some information about the upcoming release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows,” says Ubisoft in a statement. statement published in X. “Assassin’s Creed Shadows will not require a mandatory permanent connection. An Internet connection will be required to install the game, but you will be able to complete the entire journey offline and explore Japan without an Internet connection.”

Requiring an Internet connection during the installation process is possibly due to the need to download the release update. It should also be taken into account that Ubisoft is working on Assassin’s Creed Infinity, a hub to bring together all the experiences of the franchise and we still do not know to what extent Assassin’s Creed Shadows will depend, now or in the future, on this platform.
