8 bodies found on a highway in northern Mexico

Mexican authorities found the bodies of eight men lying on a road, with signs of beatings and stab wounds. The incident occurred in the state of Chihuahua, bordering the United States, a transit route for thousands of undocumented migrants.

The bodies of eight men were located by Mexican authorities on Sunday morning naked and lying on a highway in the northern state of Chihuahua, bordering Texas, the state prosecutor's office reported.

The victims were naked on one side of the road that connects Chihuahua, the state capital, with Ciudad Juárez, a neighboring town of El Paso.

According to authorities, there were no bullets at the scene and the victims suffered blows and stab wounds. There was also a piece of cardboard with a message that was not made known.

Chihuahua is a strategic state for all illegal trafficking between Mexico and the United States and for years it has been the scene of numerous acts of violence linked to organized crime.
