Mercado Libre avoids personnel cuts

While the Argentine marketplace is hiring staff, other large technology companies, such as Google, Meta, Microsoft and Amazon, have had staff cuts since 2022. This year alone, according to data collected by the site Layoff.fyi, 257 tech companies had layoffs, which represented the reduction of 74,591 employees.

In 2022, layoffs were around 164,700, and 2023 saw an approximately 47.2% increase in the number of layoffs compared to the previous year.

This year, Tesla tops the list with 14,000 layoffs, followed by Google with 12,000, Meta with 11,000 and Amazon with 10,000.
