At the beginning of this year, multiple rumors emerged indicating that Microsoft planned to abandon the exclusive model to become a multiplatform company. In the end, Xbox addressed the reports and confirmed that only 4 of its titles will make the jump to more platforms. To the surprise of perhaps many fans, this new strategy seems to be working well.
Before Xbox clarified the information, many devoted players expressed their discontent with the brand's supposed new strategy. Some fans even sold their consoles and canceled their Xbox Game Pass memberships in protest.
Recently, Phil Spencer acknowledged the criticism, but commented that this and other decisions are intended to make the Xbox brand stronger in the long term. Is right? It's still too early to tell, but a recent finding suggests so.

Microsoft games lead the list of best-selling games on the PlayStation PS Store
Previously, we had said that pre-sales of Sea of Thieves and Grounded They were a hit on the PS Store. It is clear that PlayStation fans are eager to enjoy these proposals, and even caused the servers of Rare's multiplayer title to experience problems due to high demand.
This trend is seen with other titles that, technically, are already owned by Microsoft because the company acquired the studios that produced them. As reported from GameSpot and TweakTownthe house of Xbox eclipsed Sony video games in the PlayStation digital store.
According to the information, 7 of the 25 best-selling video games on PlayStation 5 they are franchises and titles developed by studios that now belong to Xbox. In the list you can see Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, Minecraft, Overwatch 2, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, Sea of Thieves and Grounded.
On the contrary, only 5 PlayStation titles are in the top 25 of the PS Store: MLB The Show 24, Destiny 2, Rise of the Ronin, Stellar Blade and helldivers 2. It is worth noting that the last 3 are developed by third-party studios, although they were published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Of course, the list changes depending on the region and includes free games. Even so, the analysis is very interesting and seems to show that, despite criticism from fans, Microsoft's strategy of buying studios and bringing its titles to as many platforms as possible is a success.
Indeed, Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft Gaming, commented in February that Xbox is already one of the most important publishers on PlayStation and Nintendo thanks to the acquisition of Activision Blizzard and Zenimax.
