5 Aug. (Portaltic/EP) –
the video game studio ActivisionBlizzard and the Chinese company NetEase have canceled the development of a project with which they hoped to bring the World of Warcraft (WoW) universe to mobile devices.
Both companies would have been working on this video game in the last three years but, after the dissolution of the development team of NetEase in charge of creating content for the title, the decision would have been made to paralyze it.
Just like advances Bloomberg, based on statements from a person close to this work, Activision Blizzard and NetEase they would not have reached an agreement after reviewing the terms of their collaborationwhich has led to the cancellation of this product.
The crippled title was known internally as Neptune and was conceived as a massively multiplayer role-playing game. (MMORPG) ‘online’ set in the WoW universe. However, Bloomberg points out that it was focused on an extension of the video game, but rather on a ‘spin-off’ of it, integrated into a different time.
This medium also anticipates that the video game developer previously canceled another project based on Warcraft, an augmented reality (AR) title “very similar” to Pokémon GO.
It should be remembered that Blizzard Entertainment presented its first video game for mobile phones set in Warcraft at the beginning of May, just a few months after announcing this job in a meeting with investors.
It is precisely expected that WoW will receive an expansion later this year, under the name of Dragonflight, which will bring new races of dragons – among them, the dracthyr – and will allow players to visit and learn about the Dragon Islands.
