April 19 (EUROPA PRESS) –

This Friday, the United States issued sanctions against two Israeli entities that were raising funds for two settlers involved in riots and attacks in the West Bank, events for which they were sanctioned last February.

In particular, the organizations provided material and financial support and established fundraising campaigns for Yinon Levi and David Chai Chasdai, two “violent extremists” who were sanctioned as “responsible for the destruction of property, attacks on civilians and violence against Palestinians.” “, according to the US Treasury Department.

“Such acts undermine the peace, security and stability of the West Bank. We will continue to use our tools to hold those responsible accountable,” Treasury Undersecretary Wally Adeyemo said in a statement.

The two sanctioned entities, Mount Hebron Fund (for Levi) and Shlom Asiraich (for Chasdai), raised the equivalent of 131,000 and 29,000 euros, respectively, before the campaigns were removed from the Internet and the funds were retained by local financial institutions.

According to US authorities, both individuals led groups of violent extremists who sought to “instill fear among the population of the West Bank by attacking civilians, threatening them with more violence if they did not leave their homes, burning their fields and destroying their property.”

Additionally, US authorities have targeted Ben-Zion Gopstein, the founder and leader of an organization whose members have committed acts of violence, including attacks against Palestinian civilians.

The measures adopted by the US Administration imply the freezing of the assets found in its territory of the sanctioned persons and prohibit all transactions carried out by Americans or on US soil that involve these sanctioned persons.
