Pyongyang announced this Saturday that it has carried out tests with a “super-large” cruise missile warhead and a new anti-aircraft missile in an area on the west coast as part of the expansion of its military capabilities in the context of tensions with Washington and Seoul.
This was made known by the North Korean news agency KCNA, which clarified that “the North Korean Missile Administration has conducted a power test of a super-large warhead designed for the 'Hwasal-1 Ra-3' strategic cruise missile.” and a test launch of the new 'Pyoljji-1-2' anti-aircraft type in the Western Korean Sea on the afternoon of April 19.”
This exercise has been carried out with “a certain objective”, which has been achieved according to the same agency, and is part of “the usual activities of the Administration and its affiliated defense scientific institutes for the rapid development of technologies in various aspects, such as the tactical and technical performance and operation of new types of weapon systems.”
In this sense, North Korean authorities have insisted that these latest tests “had nothing to do with the surrounding situation.”
These activities take place after the North Korean authorities completed preparations this Monday for the launch of a second spy satellite with which they hope to monitor and counteract possible actions by “hostile” countries against them.
