This is the new Huawei Pura 70 Ultra

Let's start with the model, by far, most ambitious in the family. The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra is Huawei's flagship for 2024 (with permission from the future Mate 70), a device in which the camera module is the main protagonist. It is a terminal made of vegan leather: none of its color options are finished in glass.

The screen of this phone has resolution Full HD+, with 120 Hz and LTPO OLED technology. It will remain to test the mobile in person, but the frontal use seems simply spectacular. The processor is the new Kirin 9010a proposal similar in power to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 according to the first benchmarks, and a small step behind the Kirin 9000s that we saw in the Mate 60 Pro.

At the memory level, this Ultra version opts for 512 GB or 1 TB for internal storage, and the RAM goes up to 16 GB. Figures worthy of the best phones on the market.

But what draws the most attention in the first instance is the camera, and no wonder. This Pura 70 Pro has a one-inch camera, with 50 megapixel resolution and variable aperture from f/1.6 to f4.0. It is not the first phone we see with a variable aperture, in fact, since the Mate 50 Pro Huawei has already committed to this technology, but it is an added value in this new Pura.

The great news is that, if you look closely, The central camera (the periscopic telephoto lens) is retractable. It enters and exits within the body. Every time we open the chamber, a mechanical sound is produced as a system of gears pull it from the inside out. Huawei promises that the system withstands more than 300,000 contractions, and two meters of IP68 immersion, in addition to being dust resistant.

In addition to being a telephoto lens, it is a 45x macro lens, with a close focus of 5cm. Huawei has not detailed the benefits of making the telephoto camera retractable, although we can guess that it is a great move to introduce a

Regarding the main sensor, we are talking about one inch in a stabilized sensor, a technology used by rivals such as the iPhone 15 Pro Max. An OIS is not added to use: it is the sensor itself that stabilizes the image.

The United States veto has not been able to defeat Huawei. The company breaks revenue records despite obstacles

The rest of the specifications are completed with a 5,200mAh battery with 100W fast charging and no less than 80W wireless charging. There is no lack of HarmonyOS (it is not specified which version of Android it is based on), nor IP68 water protection.

This is what the Huawei Pura 70 Pro+ and Pro are like

Regarding the Pro+ and Pro models, they are practically identical, except for the memory configurations and some details in the rear finish. The Pro is sold in purple, gray and black, without any flourishes on the back.

For its part, the Pro+ has a “woven” glass finish, with some ornamental patterns on its back. Otherwise, we are looking at two phones with the same screen as the Ultra model, although with a less powerful camera system. The telephoto lens here is not retractable, the camera shares resolution but the sensor is not one inch, and the ultra wide angle has less resolution.

We also have a somewhat smaller battery, 5050mAh, although 100W fast charging is maintained. Aside from these main differences, there is no abyss between the Ultra and the Pro models: they share software, connectivity, water and dust protection, stereo sound, etc.

Versions and prices of the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra, Pura 70 Pro+ and Pura 70 Pro

The exchange rates give us a clue about what will happen when we arrive in Spain. These models are the most expensive “P” in history, with an Ultra starting at almost 1,300 euros to change. Remember that, after taxes and tariffs, these prices usually rise quite a bit.

  • Huawei Pura 70 Ultra: from 1,292.77 euros to the exchange rate
  • Huawei Pura 70 Pro+: from 1,034.19 euros to the exchange rate
  • Huawei Pura 70 Pro: from 840.33 euros to the change
