The rumors were true. Microsoft was contemplating expanding Xbox Game Pass Ultimate with a subscription that would allow sharing the service with family or friends. The Redmond Giant has announced this Thursday that the tests of this new plan will begin in two countries, one from South America and the other from Europe.
Starting now, members of the Xbox Insider Program Colombia and Ireland they will be able to obtain a new specific subscription that will allow them to share their membership with up to four people who do not necessarily have to be Insiders like them, but must meet the requirement of residing in the same country.
How to share Xbox Game Pass Ultimate account
The mechanics to access this new possibility does not consist only of changing the subscription. As mentioned above, the first requirement is that you must be a member of the Xbox Insider Program in the countries mentioned. If you are not yet part of the program, you can sign up by downloading the application Xbox Insider Hub on your Xbox or Windows device.
The next step is to go to the Microsoft Store and get the plan “Xbox Game Pass – Insider Preview“. By doing so, the company explains, you will not have to pay money or cancel anything. The remaining time of the current plan will become time of the new plan. In this way, for example, if you have one month of Ultimate, it will become 18 days of the new plan to share the benefits of the service with up to four people.
Guests must have a Microsoft account and if they have an active Xbox subscription, they must cancel it to participate in the shared membership plan. Once inside the new plan, if they regret it, they won’t be able to get out immediately. They will have to wait for the remaining time to expire before changing plans.
At the moment we do not know how long this test will last or if Microsoft will decide to expand it to other countries. There are also no details about the price of this subscription in case of a general release. However, as we can see, if a full month of Game Pass Ultimate is equivalent to 18 days of the new plan, it will obviously be more expensive, although it would be cheaper than paying for several equivalent subscriptions separately.
Finally, remember that since this is a test that takes place within the Xbox Insider Program, problems may appear. The company says that some invitees are getting errors accepting invites and that they are working on a fix. Failures have also been detected when obtaining the new plan.
