Epic Games has laid the foundations for what it considers to be the way in which Google must legally compensate for having exercised anti-competitive practices in its official application store, which require its opening without dissuasive messages or retaliation.
In December, a popular jury in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California found that Google violated antitrust laws in the distribution of applications with the Play Store. It is a decision that ruled Epic Games right and also urged it to present a proposal for legal reparation.
The video game company seeks to ensure that Google opens its application store in the United States, both to downloads and payment methods, as stated in the proposals it has shared in its official blog.
On the one hand, Epic believes that Google “should allow consumers Download apps from wherever you choose without interferencewhether from the Google Play Store, a third-party app store, another app, or the web”, without influencing the user's decision with dissuasive messages.
On the other hand, he understands that the technology giant “must allow consumers and developers Choose how you make and offer in-app purchasesfree of tariffs and anti-competitive restrictions.” Also the direct communication of developers with users.
Along with these proposals, Epic highlights the fact that Google cannot “retaliate” against the video game firm, and which includes being able to bring its Epic Games Store to mobile phones that run the Android operating system, “without delays or barriers.”
