Albares assures that “peace in the Middle East and the end of the spiral of violence” requires the recognition of the Palestinian State
This Monday the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, assured on TVE's La Hora that “peace in the Middle East and the end of the spiral of violence” requires the recognition of the Palestinian State. “We know what the solution is and we are going to work for it, this state of alert to which the population is subjected must decrease and the recognition of both states is crucial,” said the minister, acknowledging that “of course we are very far from what the Government of Spain, its partners and allies want, a permanent ceasefire.”
In turn, Albares has announced that, in the extraordinary meeting called by the high representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, together with the rest of the foreign ministers, the Government's position will be “without a doubt, condemnation” of Iran's attack that occurred this weekend. For this reason, he will present his arguments and “trusts that the rest of the European partners are on the same line.”
The minister has also attacked the Popular Party stating that “if the PP considers that foreign policy is carried out by tweet, it only shows that Mr. Feijóo is still incapable of governing” and that what the opposition party highlights is that “he is always the last to stand next to the Government in state policies.” Finally, Albares has acknowledged that great progress is being made in the agreement for Gibraltar, but that there is still no scheduled date.
