The electronic invoice is a document that has the same validity as the traditional paper one. This serves as a support for transactions that involve the sale and/or purchase of goods and services, and is generated digitally.

For some time now, Dian has been promoting its implementation, not only because regulations require the generation and issuance of this type of receipt, but because it offers multiple advantages for both the biller and the consumer.

In fact, Among these advantages is included one related to the income tax return. and the reduction of the value that must be paid when presenting it.

Deduction in the declaration

The implementation of the most recent tax reform (Law 2277 of 2022) brought with it a series of changes in the payment of income tax for individuals. This includes the entry into force of a deduction for those who purchase goods and services supported by electronic invoice.

This being the case, the benefit is that for each purchase made 1% of the value of that acquisition may be deducted.

However, the rule also establishes some conditions. According to the legislation, the maximum amount that can be reduced is equivalent to 240 UVT of the taxable year. That is, in the case of the 2023 tax (whose declaration is presented in 2024), You can deduct up to $10,178,880.

Also, keep in mind that the law states that to access this advantage, only transactions through debit card, credit card or any electronic means in which an entity supervised by the Financial Superintendency intervenes.

Remember that when requesting your electronic invoice you must provide three pieces of information: your name, your ID number and your email. If you have additional requirements, you can report this to the Dian.
