April 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Italian presidency of the G7 has called for this Sunday an extraordinary summit of the group on the occasion of the attack unleashed last night by Iran against Israeli territory, the most serious incident in the region since the outbreak of the conflict between Israel and Hamas on October 7 .

The meeting has been called by the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, who, through a message on her X social network account, has conveyed her “condemnation of the Iranian attacks against Israel” and announced the imminent summit.

“The Italian presidency of the G7 has organized a conference at the leaders' level for the first afternoon today. We express our deep concern about further destabilization of the region and we continue working to avoid it,” he said.

The president of the United States, Joe Biden, had already anticipated hours before calling the leaders this informal forum in which Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Japan and Canada also participate.
