At least two soldiers died this Thursday after an Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) helicopter crashed near the city of Cavite, south of the Asian country's capital, Manila.
“A PN Robinson R22 training helicopter made an emergency landing this morning (near) the Cavite market. The two Navy airmen were rushed to the hospital for treatment but succumbed to their injuries,” the spokesperson explained. AFP, Francel Margerth Padilla.
The Police have indicated that the deceased are 36 and 27 years old. Likewise, he has indicated that the authorities are carrying out an investigation to determine the cause of the events, as reported by the Philippine news portal Inquirer.
The Navy has specified that the helicopter took off from Sangley airport early in the morning to carry out a training flight, although the accident took place around 6:00 a.m. (local time).
“Philippine Navy aircraft undergo regular inspections and maintenance to ensure their airworthiness. However, we will leave no stone unturned as we strive to prevent this type of accident from happening again,” he added.
