The Kenya Red Cross has indicated that at least nine counties – including the capital, Nairobi – have been affected by the floods, which have caused the displacement of members of more than 1,900 households, in addition to deaths. of thousands of cattle washed away by the waters.

According to information collected by the Kenyan television network Citizen TV, the event in which four members of the same family died took place in the town of Torokiat, in the Narok district, where roads and other infrastructure have also suffered serious damage. flood damage.

The National Disaster Operations Center has recommended the evacuation of low-lying areas located on the banks of several rivers due to the risk of flooding due to the rains, which washed away a bus with about 50 people on board on the highway that connects Nairobi with the city of Garissa (east).

At the end of March, four people died due to flooding in Nairobi, including an officer who was swept away by the waters while participating in a rescue operation for a family trapped in the Kamukunji neighborhood, authorities confirmed.
