Eight Syrians affiliated with Iran's Revolutionary Guard die in a stabbing attack on a barracks in Syria

April 10 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Eight Syrians affiliated with Iran's Revolutionary Guard were killed this Tuesday in a knife attack on a military barracks near the city of Al Mayadin, in the governorate of Deir Ezzor, in eastern Syria.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, based in London and an informant in the Arab country, has indicated that “unidentified armed men broke into the headquarters and massacred eight members using knives” in “the capital of the pro-Iranian militias” in the country. .

The organization, which has highlighted that it is the second attack of this type in the same region in the last 48 hours, has indicated that the security forces are on maximum alert, with strict measures and checkpoints on the roads.

The previous day, the Observatory reported that three members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, all of them with Syrian nationality, died after being shot at a military post on the outskirts of the city.

Control of Deir Ezzor, on the border with Iraq, is divided between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), led by the Syrian Kurdish militia People's Protection Units (YPG), and the Syrian Government, backed by Iran and its militias. The province, which has important oil wells, has the presence of soldiers from the international coalition – an ally of the SDF – led by the United States against the Islamic State, which is also active in the province.
