Iran arrests ten alleged members of the Islamic State who planned attacks against religious acts

Aug. 4 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Iranian authorities announced this Thursday the arrest of ten suspected members of the Islamic State jihadist group who planned attacks against religious acts during the month of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar.

The Iranian Intelligence Ministry has indicated that the suspects have ties to Israel and has accused Israeli authorities of “attempting to use Islamic State ‘takfiri’ groups to carry out terrorist operations.”

Thus, he stressed that the Iranian security forces monitored the activities of the suspects and added that they were arrested in operations carried out in two regions in the west and south of the country, according to the Iranian news agency Tasnim.

The Ministry of Intelligence has also stressed that the operations resulted in the seizure of explosive devices, communication devices and weapons, before confirming that two agents were injured during them.

The Iranian authorities have announced in recent weeks the arrest of several people for alleged links with the Israeli intelligence services and have held Israel responsible for planning attacks and acts of sabotage in the country.
