At least 20 people have died this Sunday as a result of a series of clashes between two rival militias in the Syrian governorate of Daraa (south) after one of them accused the other of killing eight children after activating an explosive device last Saturday.
The pro-government militia, which works for the Intelligence Department and is led by former Islamic State member Mohsin al Haimad, has attacked another group known as Al Shabt, whose leader, Ahmed Jamal al Labad, had also worked for state services. security, as reported by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The organization, based in London and an informant in the country, has assured that the Al Haimad militia has attacked several buildings of the rival group, setting them on fire and “executing” numerous people.
Among the dead are a woman and two children from Al Haimad's family, two civilians outside the group, 14 members of Al Shabt and one from Al Haimad's militia.
The governorate is prone to experiencing this type of violent episodes, and according to data from the Observatory, since the beginning of 2024, 125 people have died in similar incidents, among which there are 37 civilians (three women and twelve children).
