The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zajarova, has announced that Moscow is willing to break diplomatic relations with the United States if Washington finally declares Russia a state sponsor of terrorism.
US authorities announced last week that they were studying the possibility of declaring Russia a state sponsor of terrorism in what would be a further step in the sanctions imposed on the Eurasian nation for the invasion of neighboring Ukraine.
For Zajarova, the legislators have already approved all the “available sanctions” against Russia and have verified that, in general, these have been “ineffective”, with which they now seem to bet on “a more powerful weapon”, according to the agency. Russian news TASS.
“We are ready for any development of the situation, and if Washington decides to completely stop interaction with Moscow, we will survive,” warned the spokeswoman for Russian diplomacy, who pointed out that if Washington takes this step, a “point of no return” when it comes to relationships.
The US Senate passed a resolution in late July urging the State Department to recognize Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism, a move that would meet earlier demands made by Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky.
