The new Sumeru region is very close to being available in Genshin Impact. HoYoverse has already taken advantage of some occasions to present the novelties that this new zone will include and has just revealed several new characters and details of the society of this region.

Meet the new characters of Sumeru in Genshin Impact
Like any new region, Sumeru will have a lot of creatures adapted to their habitat. The tropical section of Sumeru will bring back the Shroom-Kin. Some species even evolved into advanced Fungi, which have an animal-like nature and are territorial and aggressive.
On the other hand, in the desert, they will find The Eremites, mercenaries of an ancient civilization that inhabits the desert area and who are not part of the nation, but use their own strength and knowledge. In this section is where more vestiges of Sumeru’s remote past are found, as well as machines and beasts that have mutated.
For many, the most important thing about each update is the new characters and in Sumeru some have already been confirmed and in the new trailer HoYoverse revealed a few more.

Precisely, we were able to take a look at 7 more characters, such as the Amurta investigator and watcher of the Tighnari forest, the member of the Akademiya Alhaitham, the mercenary of The Eremites Dehya, the mysterious girl Nahida and Dehya, a young woman who instead of the path of wisdom decided to take that of art and dance.
Additionally, General Mahamatra and more characters will arrive in the next version, such as Cyno, a character who had been introduced in Chapter 12 of the official manga and who had appeared in the plot preview of the Teyvat chapter and who for the first time showed up in-game.
