Heading to the 6th Latin American and Caribbean Sanitation Conference "LATINOSAN"

With the main objective of promoting the exchange of experiences in the implementation of the human right to drinking water and sanitation, on July 27 in the facilities of the Spanish Cooperation Training Center, in the city of Santa Cruz, the Regional Workshop “ Human Right to Drinking Water and Sanitation” towards the sixth Latin American and Caribbean Conference on Sanitation (LATINOSAN), which will take place in October in Cochabamba.

The Workshop had the participation of national entities involved in the implementation of DHAS, who worked around different thematic axes linked to the central theme of the event.

Subsequently, the “Regional Conference on the Implementation of the Human Right to Drinking Water and Sanitation” was held, which was attended by renowned panelists such as the secretary general of the Intergovernmental Coordinating Committee of the countries of the River Plate Basin (CIC), Juan Carlos Alurralde, the regional manager for Central America of the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF), René Orellana, and the former executive secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Alicia Barcena.

Authorities from the government of the Plurinational State of Bolivia participated in the first day, such as the Ministry of Environment and Water, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (organizer of the VI LATINOSAN Conference), as well as social organizations such as Bartolina Sisa, Youth, Plurinational Youth Council , UNIBOL Guaraní, Single Trade Union Federation of Peasant Workers, Intercultural Workers, Councilors of the department of Santa Cruz, among others.

About LATINOSAN

On March 22, the official launch of the VI LATINOSAN was held, to be held on October 13 in Tiquipaya, department of Cochabamba.

Its objective is to guarantee access to quality and sustainable sanitation services in the urban, peri-urban and rural areas of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The initiative seeks to ensure its prioritization in public policies of the countries, in order to make effective the human right to drinking water and sanitation, in the scenario of climate change and its direct relationship with health.
