PlayStation 5 exceeds 21 million units sold worldwide

There is still a long way to go to catch up with the PlayStation 4 console; however, the PS5 has proven to be the console with the best launch so far. After a couple of years on the market, Sony confirmed that they have already managed to beat more than 21 units.

In the financial results for the fiscal year of 2022, which ended on June 30, they shared the revenue data on consoles. In this period alone, the company managed to sell 2.4 million PS5s.

In this way, since November 2020, it has been possible to exceed 21.7 million PlayStation 5 consoles. Unfortunately, PS4 data has not been shared, despite continuing as one of the most popular gaming devices in history.

For now, it is known that the impressive number of 117 million PS4 sold, data from May of this year, has been exceeded. In turn, it was confirmed that there are 47.3 million subscriptions in PlayStation Plus until June 31.

As for video games, the figure of 47.1 million copies has been reached in the quarter alone. Digital sales represent 79%, 8 percent higher than last year.
