The route called ‘La Isabel Pérez’ was born with the aim of changing the face of an area on the slopes of the Valle del Cauca capital where even a sector known as ‘El Hueco’ was intervened, that historically was referenced as a focus of insecurity and violence in the city.

The project is led by the Ministry of Culture, the Muli Museum and the Compromiso Valle program, which together seek to transform territories and turn them into tourist and cultural attractions.

The inhabitants of more than 20 neighborhoods in the communes of Siloé and Belén, located in the western hills of Cali, are the most benefited from this social transformation based on culture. At the inauguration, the inhabitants of the sector expressed that they feel greater security in the sector.

In this corridor there are musical, dance, graffiti, paintings and gastronomy samples with which they hope to attract tourists so that they are encouraged to travel the route and live an experience similar to that of the ‘Commune 13 of Medellin’.

This is the result of work carried out for more than six months in conjunction with the community. We hope that in the coming weeks this route will become a space for national and international tourism. We are waiting for the people who are going to visit Cali for the Petronio Álvarez in Siloé on the cultural and community tourism route.”, said the Minister of Culture, Angélica Mayolo Obregón.

‘La Isabel Pérez’ is also part of the eight tourist routes that are currently being developed in Siloé as part of the plan to change the face of this sector of commune 20 of Cali.

With this route have been generated more than 160 temporary direct jobs and more than 28 indirect ones for people in this sector.

According to figures from Cotelco Valle and the Tourist Information System, Situr Valle del Cauca, between January and June 2022, the hotel sector in Cali has registered growth compared to previous years (51.8%).
