A magnitude 7.1 earthquake shakes the northern Philippines

July 27 (EUROPA PRESS) –

An earthquake of magnitude 7.1 on the Richter scale has shaken the city of San Ramón, in the north of the Philippines, in which for now there is no information of material damage or victims.

According to data collected by the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (SCEM), the epicenter of the earthquake has been located 20 kilometers northeast of the town of San Ramón and is 10 kilometers deep, it occurred at 08:43 am (local time).

The Philippines is located on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” where about 90 percent of the world’s earthquakes occur.


The last major earthquake to hit the country was a magnitude 7.1 earthquake that killed more than 220 people in the central Philippines in October 2013.
