The number of works carried out in Spain in the last six months amounted to 9,388 projects, which represents an increase of 5.6% compared to the same period of the previous year, with works between 10 and 50 million euros being the main driver of the sector.
According to data consulted by Europa Press and compiled by Nalanda, a portal that relates contractors and subcontractors, the number of works in this budget range grew by 27.7%, only surpassed by the growth in works of more than 50 million, if although these works represent a very small part of the total.
Most of the works offered during this semester were for small projects of up to 500,000 euros, which represent 78% of the total, although their growth rate was limited to 2%.
“After the drop in the number of works that the pandemic brought with it, there has been a gradual recovery: already in the first half of 2021 the pre-Covid contracting figures were recovered and this good trend has been confirmed this semester, despite the crisis of supplies”, says the director of Marketing, Ricardo Muriel.
The number of works offered by autonomous communities is led by Catalonia, which brought together 19.8% of the total until June 2022 (1,857 works), followed by Andalusia (1,500, 16% of the market), Madrid (956, 10, 2%) and the Valencian Community (898, 9.6%).
During this first semester of 2022, the communities that grew the most in number of works were País Vasco (62.4% and 679 works), Cantabria (47.8%), and La Rioja (23.2%). They also exceeded the growth of the national average Melilla (16.7%), Catalonia (13.5%), as well as Madrid, the Valencian Community, Andalusia and Aragon, which grew by around 10%.
On the contrary, the communities that most reduced the number of works in this semester were Murcia (35%), Navarra (25.2%), Asturias (21.8%), Canarias (15.8%) and Baleares (11 %).
Likewise, the average number of workers per project decreased by 22%, to 128 employees per project on each project, compared to 165 in 2021. An average of six subcontractors work on each project, each of which has about 22 workers from half.
