For his part, the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdoganhighlighted in his speech that with this agreement the “danger of hunger for billions of people in the Middle East and Africa” will be prevented.
“The war not only has a negative impact on the countries in conflict but on the entire world,” warned the president. “This joint step we take today I hope can rekindle hopes for peace. At the end of the day, the war will come to an end at the negotiating table. The end of this conflict will be for the benefit of all humanity. We will continue, as good neighbors, until peace is negotiated,” Erdogan concluded.
Behind the “four-way meeting” with military representatives from Russia, Ukraine and Turkeywhich took place last week, Guterres was cautiously optimistic, speaking of “a key step forward.”
It is estimated that in Ukrainian ports there are currently more than 20 million tons of cereals and sunflower seeds that cannot go on the market as a result of the blockade of the Black Sea after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
