Several people were hit by bullets during a mass shooting in the Mission District, a San Francisco neighborhood, Friday night, but authorities said there were no fatalities.
“We can confirm that there are nine victims of the shooting (…) All are expected to survive their injuries,” the San Francisco Police Department explained in a tweet.
According to police, there was no threat afoot and the shooting “appears to be targeted and isolated.”
In a previous tweet, the city’s Emergency Department had asked people to avoid the area of 24th Street and Treat Avenue.
Police explained that officers responded to the shooting shortly after 9 p.m., KPIX-TV reported.
The victims were taken to a hospital but no further details on their condition were provided, the channel added.
Authorities did not immediately report any arrests.
