June 11 () –

There are 77 injured by the floods in Kherson, Ukraine, caused after the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, and at least 7,000 people have been evacuated, according to the pro-Russian authorities in the region.

As of June 10, almost 7,000 people have been evacuated from the flooded territories of the Kherson region (323 of them were children and 112 people with reduced mobility), about 902 people per day. Of the total number of evacuees, about 1,500 people are in temporary accommodation centers. 77 people from the affected territories were hospitalized in medical institutions in the region,” Russian-imposed Kherson governor Vladimir Saldo said on his official Telegram channel.

In addition, he has accused the Ukrainian Army of bombing areas where rescues and “other emergency work” are being carried out.

The governor has assured that the water level continues to drop in the district in the different areas of the region and that they are “actively working” on pumping water from basements, conditioning the streets and restoring power supply and sewage stations.

The dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, 60 kilometers from the city of Kherson, was destroyed early Tuesday morning and has completely flooded numerous settlements in Kherson, killing at least five people. The authorities of both countries are evacuating the inhabitants of the affected areas.

Both Russia and Ukraine have accused each other of the destruction of the dam, which endangers the pumping of water to the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, the supply of water to the Crimean peninsula, under Russian control, and the destruction of populations and farmland on both banks of the river.
