70% of Spanish gamers meet new friends thanks to video games, according to a study

Almost a 70 percent of the ‘gamers’ make new friends at some point thanks to their love of video games in multiplayer mode, either in ‘online’ games in pairs or teams.

PcComponentes has made its ‘II Gaming Radiography’ in Spain, the results of which have been announced on the occasion of the international friendship daythat It is celebrated every July 30 since 2011, as declared by the United Nations Organization (UN) more than a decade ago.

This technology ‘e-commerce’ seeks with this study to value the great social component that video games have acquired thanks to the growing trend of the ‘online’ modality, as pointed out in a press release sent to Europa Press.

Although it is commonly believed that playing video games can be an experience that promotes isolation and loneliness, 69.9 percent of gamers have made new friends on occasion thanks to it.

“Video games have a positive impact on people (…) They are one more resource to meet new people with common interests and enjoy a more social leisure”, commented the Brand&Comms Manager of PcComponentes, Alicia Vicente.

According to this study, the promotion of friendships through video games occurs, especially, among players aged between 14 and 23 years old.

So much so that 91.7 percent of those surveyed say they have made new friends playing ‘online’ with multiplayer modes, a figure that is well above the average for all ages.
