Communications University of Valparaíso.- The document was delivered to them at a ceremony in which they were officially fired by the rector Osvaldo Corrales, which was also attended by the pro-rector, Christian Corvalán; the vice-rector for Linking with the Environment, Carlos Lara; the director of Institutional Relations, José Luis Meza; the director of Extension and Communications, Osvaldo Bizama, and the coordinator of Student Mobility, Perla Cisternas.
Each of the young people selected for exchange also received a Chilean flag, a symbol of their status as “ambassadors” of the UV and of the country, and the certification of the corresponding support scholarships that, for half of them, will make their trip possible. and permanence abroad, among which are the UV Puerta al Mundo, Santander, Alianza del Pacífico and the Association of Universities of the Montevideo Group, AUGM.
Dream fulfilled
During the ceremony, the students were happy and pleased, while expressing their satisfaction at having been favored by what they unanimously described as a “tremendous opportunity” and a “dream fulfilled.”
“Before entering the University I never thought about the possibility of studying outside of Chile. This is a great opportunity and responsibility, which will allow us to grow as people and as professionals, develop soft skills and broaden our vision of the world. You just have to dare, because you can. I would like to thank the UV for the scholarship granted. Definitely dreams, when one strives for them, come true,” said Danilo Lara, a student of the Biomedical Civil Engineering degree who will take this semester at the Manuela Beltrán University in Colombia and who spoke at the ceremony on behalf of his fellow students. exchange.
His words were especially valued by the rector, who maintained that they faithfully represent the spirit of the University of Valparaíso.
“Academic mobility in a global world like the current one is increasingly relevant and necessary. Studying abroad is something invaluable, because it transforms lives, biographies; it makes it possible to advance in the fulfillment of vocations and, at the same time, fosters the development of the potential that we all have as human beings. Without a doubt, this trip will enrich your personal and professional training. I am sure that this experience will mark and transform them positively and forever, and that thanks to that they will be able to contribute what is necessary so that we can all live and develop in a better world,” said Corrales.
For his part, the director of Institutional Relations, José Luis Meza, congratulated and recognized the merits of the selected students and reiterated that for the UV, mobility is one of the most important axes of institutional management, while at the same time constituting a valuable tool to strengthen training processes.
Second group
The sixty-five students who will study abroad during the second semester of this year join the twenty-four who were selected for exchange last semester. With this, the UV fully resumes its mobility program, after it was suspended in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
On this occasion, the UV students will be sent to the universities of the Basque Country, Oviedo, Malaga, Valencia, Cadiz, Lleida, Vic-Central of Catalonia, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Polytechnic of Madrid, Polytechnic of Valencia and Autonomous of Barcelona, in Spain; from Bologna, from Pavia, from Rome III and the Polytechnic of Milan, in Italy; the Higher Institute of Commerce of Paris, the Institute of Political Studies of Rennes, the Higher School of Architecture of Brittany and the University of Lille II, in France; King’s College London, in the United Kingdom; the Vienna University of Applied Sciences, in Austria; the University of Guadalajara, in Mexico; the Manuela Beltrán University, in Colombia; the Federal University of Minas Gerais, in Brazil; the University of Piura, in Peru, and the University of the Northeast, in Argentina.
