Elgato, a company dedicated to devices for content streaming such as recorders, microphones, customizable keypads and much more, has announced the first webcam on the market with 4K resolution and 60 FPS.

Under the name of Elgato Facecam PRO, the company acquired by Corsair boasts that it is the world’s first 4K60 webcam. It is capable of capturing video and photos in resolution 40 with 40 frames per second. It has a lens made up of 8 components with an F/2.0 aperture and a focal length of 21 mm.

This lens takes full advantage of the sensor, avoiding the need to rescale the image or correct the image for shape distortions. In addition, it offers 18 layers to prevent reflections and an infrared filter to prevent the passage of this type of light frequency.

Its sensor has a size of 1/1.8 inches manufactured by Sony and uses USB-C 3.0 connectivity for connection to the PC.

All this is managed by a SoC in charge of processing the image and applying light corrections, noise reduction, ISO sensitivity, and the variable focus system. You can set the type of exposure metering, switch to auto or manual focus mode, and output a 4K 60 FPS signal in H.264 or MJPEG in real time. The SoC is cooled by a dissipation system located at the top rear

It is compatible with elgato’s Camera Hub software.

Like any product that is a pioneer in its field, its price is usually far from competing with the most affordable models, so it is not too surprising 349.99 euros that it costs on its own website.
