12 people arrested for the Antalya cable car accident (Türkiye)

The Turkish Prosecutor's Office announced this Sunday the arrest of 12 people after the collapse of a cable car tower in the city of Antalya (in the southwest of the country) that left at least one dead and seven injured this past Saturday, according to the official news agency. The collapse of the tower, under investigation, caused 171 people to become trapped in the cabins of the cable car service.

For his rescue, the intervention of four helicopters from the Coast Guard Command and three helicopters from the General Gendarmerie Command was necessary.

607 search and rescue personnel, eight helicopters, a military cargo plane, 113 vehicles, six ambulances and drones were also assigned to the region.

The Minister of the Interior, Ali Yerlikaya, has also promised an investigation to clarify the causes of the tower's collapse.
