() — A shipment of baby wipes across the US-Mexico border turned out to be something very different: a shipment of cocaine valued at $11.8 million at street prices.

Agents from the US Customs and Border Protection Office (CBP) seized the drug last Friday at the Solidarity-Colombia International Bridge, according to a Press release issued on Monday. The bridge connects Texas with the state of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, over the Rio Grande River just north of Laredo, Texas.

Members of the CBP Office of Field Operations ordered a second inspection of a trailer truck, which claimed to be carrying only baby wipes. After a subsequent and “non-intrusive” canine inspection, 1,935 packages with almost 700 kilograms of alleged cocaine were discovered, according to official information.

“This seizure is an excellent example of border security stewardship and how it helps prevent dangerous narcotics from reaching our communities,” Alberto Flores, director of the Laredo port of entry, said in the statement.

Agents seized the narcotics. US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Homeland Security Investigations team are seeking more details of the seizure, according to the release.
