A film created by two prestigious filmmakers cannot be seen by anyone of their generation. Although with advances in medicine and longevity… who knows…
The November 18, 2015 film director Robert Rodriguezand Oscar-nominated actor John Malkovichthey finished haunting the sci-fi movie 100 Years – The movie you will never see. But neither of us, and surely neither of us, will be able to see it.
100 Years will be released a century after it was filmed. Specifically, the November 18, 2115. Nobody will be able to see it before, and very few know what it is about.
After finishing shooting, 100 Years was kept in a specially designed safe by Fichet-Bauche, the most prestigious brand of safes, which designed a completely unique safe for the occasion. It does not have a key or security keys. Just a countdown that will reach zero on November 18, 2115, opening the safe:
They have been sent 1,000 invitations in metallic plates (since the paper in a century can deteriorate), with the idea that invitees give these invitations to their descendants, so that they can attend the premiere in a century. Although with the current plans to live to be 200 years old, perhaps some original guest will attend…
The film has an advertising component, as it has been sponsored by a famous French brand of cognac, but it is a full-fledged film. Thierry Frémaux, general delegate of the Cannes Film Festival, has said that “I hope that our descendants take into account the film ’00 Years’ as a candidate for the Palme d’Or at the 2116 Cannes Film Festival“.
100 Years screenplay by John Malkovichwho also stars in it along with Shuya Chang and Marko Zaror. It has been directed by Robert Rodríguez.
Very little is known about the argument, although everything indicates that it will deal with How will humanity live in the year 2115?.
At the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, three teasers were broadcast exploring hypothetical visions of what the Earth will be like in 100 years. Each of the samples begins with the same dialogue and incorporates the actors, but presents a different future.
One imagines the Earth as a place conquered by nature. Another shows the world ruled by technology, after an extraterrestrial exploration in which the Earth becomes an ultra-urbanized and technologically advanced place. And the third teaser shows us humanoid robots that have taken control of the Earth, and humans have to flee to escape.
If we have to bet, at the rate we are going with climate change, wars and populism or pandemics, within a century there may not be anyone left to see the movie…
