Authorities from the Mexican state of Baja California are investigating an attack during an off-road vehicle activity in which part of the attendees fell under bursts of bullets with a preliminary balance of 10 deaths and 10 wounded by firearms, the state prosecutor’s office reported on Sunday.
The first official reports were from Saturday night, hours after videos uploaded to social networks showed the heavy shooting in the area full of “Razer” type vehicles and at least three bodies lying on the ground.
The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday afternoon, provoked an intense mobilization of elements of the army, the Navy, and the state and local police.
According to the prosecutor’s office, a confrontation took place between members of organized crime, since they found evidence of cross shots.
State prosecutor Ricardo Iván Carpio explained that the car from which the assailants would have shot the crew members of other units had “perforations from firearms and traces of blood inside.”
Baja California is one of the northern border states of Mexico with intense organized crime activity.
