🎧 The Senate at stake: the 5N elections will define the legislative future of the US.

In addition to electing its next president, the elections held in the United States on November 5 are crucial to defining the legislative direction and the balance of power in the country.

This year, the configuration of the Senate could lean towards either party, determining the advancement or blocking of legislative initiatives of whoever occupies the White House.

With 34 seats up for grabs and several of them in key states, the results could change control of the Senate, impacting the president’s ability to implement his agenda for years to come.

The importance of the Senate also lies in its power to supervise and balance the Executive, exerting direct influence on foreign policy issues and high-level appointments.

In this episode of Road to the White House (the podcast) we detail why the Senate provides equal space to each state in the union with two seats. Likewise, the divisions of the Senate that allow a scaled rotation of seats, to avoid a total renewal as occurs with the House of Representatives.

Some of the senators facing close races include Democrats Sherrod Brown in Ohio, Jon Tester in Montana and Joe Manchin in West Virginia. Each of these seats are in states that have shown favorable trends for the Republican Party in recent election cycles.
