MADRID Jan. 17 () –
The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, decorated this Friday soldiers involved in the offensive on the Russian region of Kursk, among them the Ukrainian soldiers who carried out the first captures of North Korean soldiers.
Zelensky has praised the “bravery” of these soldiers, claiming that Ukraine has not opened any conflict with North Korea. “Ukraine has not attacked Yakutia (the Russian republic of Sakha), nor Korea, nor any other nation that Russia wants to confront us with,” he stressed, according to a statement from his office.
The Ukrainian president released images of some of the North Korean prisoners last weekend, in a message in which he offered to exchange these “Kim Jong Un soldiers” for Ukrainian soldiers who remain in Russian custody.
Ukrainian authorities have also confirmed casualties in North Korean troops, who are collaborating with Russia in the defense of the Kursk region. According to South Korean Intelligence, at least 300 North Korean soldiers have died and another 2,700 have been injured.
