According to this information, as of September 1, Xbox Live Gold will be replaced by Xbox Game Pass Core, a service that includes access to online multiplayer, offers, discounts and a catalog made up of more than 25 titles. The decadent Games with Gold initiative disappears. In the United States, the price of Xbox Game Pass Core would be the same as Xbox Live Gold: $9.99 per month. In Spain, Xbox Live Gold costs 6.99 euros per month and if there are no changes, this should be the monthly cost of Xbox Game Pass Core.
Current Xbox Live Gold subscribers will become Xbox Game Pass Core subscribers, keeping the time they have contracted for the service.
Regarding the library of games that Xbox Game Pass Core subscribers will have access to, the idea is that it will expand over time. The list of confirmed titles according to Windows Central is as follows:
- among us
- Dishonored 2
- Eternal Doom
- Fable Anniversary
- fallout 4
- Fallout 76
- Force Horizon 4
- gear 5
- Halo 5: Guardians
- Halo Wars 2
- Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice
- Human Fall Flat
- Ori and the Will of the Wisps
- psychonauts 2
- State of Decay 2
- Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited
Microsoft has not broken its head when it comes to making the catalog of Xbox Game Pass Core games. Virtually the entire list is made up of games first party and some even already have a sequel available. Others will have it soon. In any case, Xbox Game Pass Core is an improvement over Xbox Live Gold, because for the same price you get the same benefits and gain access to a library of games. Hardly anyone will regret the loss of Games with Gold, an initiative that is not going through its best moment.
If Windows Central has bypassed the embargo, confirmation from Microsoft should not be long in coming.
