With Threads, Zuckerberg puts Musk against the 'threads'

The great technological titans are in the news again this week, after the launch of the social network Threads (threads), owned by the Facebook parent company, Goaland that seeks to compete with Twitter.

In its first seven hours on the air, this application already had more than ten million downloads and its goal is to reach the 100 million usersthus surpassing the 300 million that the blue bird social network has.

(How Threads works and what makes it different from Twitter).

According to an official statement from Meta, this platform “offers a new and independent space for real-time updates and public conversations (…) We are working to make Threads compatible with the open and interoperable social networks that we believe can shape the future of the internet”.

As Meta has pointed out, users can join through their Instagram account to log in. They will only have to verify the user’s name and they will automatically be transferred with the option to customize “profile specifically for Threads”.

(TikTok Shop, the shopping pilot that challenges Amazon).

Anyone under the age of 16 (or under 18 in certain countries) will automatically have a private profile when they join Threads. You can choose to follow the same accounts you follow on Instagram, and find more people who share interests. Core accessibility features that are available on Instagram today, like the screen reader and AI-generated image descriptions, are also available in Threads.”, says the company.

And although some of the characteristics of this social network are similar to the functionalities of Twitter, mark zuckerberg has wanted to go further with this application, since users will be able to write posts up to 500 characters, include links, photos and videos up to five minutes long. Additionally, users will be able to share a Threads post to an Instagram story.

Adam Mosseri, CEO of Instagram, noted via Threads that many basic features like tags, direct messages, and ads may be added later. It should be noted that the application does not yet have advertising, since the company has said that now “is prioritizing users”.

Now this new network only works on smartphones and will be available in more than 100 countries, but none in the European Union.
