According to information from the official website of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Opening Ceremony will make history because for the first time it will not be held in a stadium and the Organizing Committee will take advantage of the historic sites of Paris for the parade of athletes.
The ceremony will take place outdoors on the Seine River, the main waterway in the French capital, where athletes will parade on boats past the most emblematic sites.
“The athletes will be the soul of the ceremony. By opening with the parade of the delegations, Paris 2024 breaks with tradition. During the introduction and throughout the ceremony, the athletes will appear on stage alongside the artists, as part of Paris 2024’s constant objective of celebrating games created by and for the athletes,” he said.
“The athletes’ parade will take place on the Seine, with boats for each national delegation equipped with cameras so that television viewers and Internet users can see the athletes up close. From east to west, the 10,500 athletes will cross the centre of Paris, the playing field of the games, where they will display their sporting prowess for 16 days. The parade will reach the end of its 6km route in front of the Trocadéro, where the remaining aspects of the Olympic protocol and the final shows will take place.”
