July 10 (Portaltic/EP) –
WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that will allow users to link their accounts to the web version using their phone number, a feature spotted in the latest Android beta.
Currently, to use WhatsApp on the computer, the application must be opened on the mobile phone and access the Linked devices tab. Once that button is pressed, the phone must be directed to the PC or laptop screen to scan the QR code.
WABetaInfo has now discovered that, after downloading the latest WhatsApp beta update for Android 126.96.36.199, available in the Google Play Store, it is possible to proceed with this device linking in another way.
Specifically, this portal has noticed the ‘Link with phone number’ option, which would indicate that, thanks to this feature, users will be able to link their account to WhatsApp Web no need to scan the QR code.
Once this new option has been chosen, the platform will show an interface that requests the entry of an 8-character code, which must be filled in once the notification with this number has been received.
WABetaInfo has reminded that this functionality is only available to beta testers who download the latest WhatsApp update and has suggested that it will also be available for iOS.
