“Enjoy recognized competence in monetary matters, as well as having held, for at least five years, high-level positions in the Mexican financial system or in the dependencies, organizations or institutions that exercise authority functions in financial matters.

“For the designation of two of the five members it will not be necessary to satisfy the requirements set forth in the previous paragraph; but in any case, they must be distinguished professionals in economic, financial or legal matters. Neither of these two members may be appointed Governor before having completed three years in office, and

“Not having been sentenced for intentional crimes; disabled to engage in business or to perform a job, position or commission, in the public service or in the Mexican financial system; nor previously removed from the position of member of the Governing Board, unless the latter had been the result of physical disability already overcome.

The norm adds that the position for deputy governor will be for eight years, staggered, succeeding one another every two years, while for governor it will be six.

The members of the Governing Board must refrain from participating with the Bank’s representation in partisan political acts.
