The Venezuelan ambassador to Colombia, Carlos Eduardo Martínez Mendoza, presented his credentials to Colombian President Gustavo Petro on Tuesday.
The news was announced by the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Yvan Gil, accompanied by a photo of the act, through his social networks, noting that, in this way, progress is being made “in the relaunch of diplomatic relations and brotherhood” between both countries.
Martinez replaces Venezuelan former diplomat Félix Plasencia, who left office to serve as executive secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP), as announced by the Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro, in January of this year. Martinez’s appointment was authorized by Venezuela’s National Assembly in February.
In this way, continuity is given to the restoration of diplomatic relations between both countries.
