Venezuela authorizes the return of flights from Colombia

The Venezuelan government, through the National Institute of Civil Aviation (Inac), gave its authorization on the afternoon of September 9 to the official inclusion of Colombia in the list of endorsed countries so that flights originating in our country can land in Venezuela.

Inac also pointed out that for now they continue to rrestricted commercial, private and general aviation operations to and from Venezuelawith the exception of those that are commercial airlines from: Turkey, Russia, Mexico, Bolivia, Panama, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Spain, Portugal, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Iran, Brazil, Algeria, Qatar and Colombia.

This official notification was a required step for the three airlines that have expressed their interest in resuming operations to Venezuela, that is, Wingo, subsidiary of Copa, Avianca and Latam Airlinesfile from next week the itineraries that you want to publish before the Inac and when it confirms its approval, the companies will be able to start the sale of tickets and flight programming.

Faced with this issue, Avianca reported that they expect the Venezuelan authorities to give the technical team permission to visit the Maiquetía airport and allow them to start marketing the flight between Bogota and Caracas.

So far, according to the Civil Aeronautics, several routes requested from a few months ago have already been approved. In the case of the Wingo airline, a subsidiary of the Copa Airlines group, the company confirmed that it has already authorized the Bogotá-Caracas-Bogotá routes in Colombia and Bogota-Valencia-Bogotá to make seven flights a week in each one.

On the other hand, Avianca filed on May 5 the request to resume the route between Bogotá and the Venezuelan capital with 7 weekly frequencies in Airbus A319, A320 and A320 Neo aircraft. In this sense, it is awaiting the approval of the Civil Aeronautics.

In the case of Latam Airlines Colombia, this airline has already been approved by Aerocivil for the same route (Bogotá-Caracas-Bogotá), and also with seven weekly frequencies, that is, one daily flight, after making the request on July 7, 2022. .
