27 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The head of the Ukrainian intelligence services, Kirilo Budanov, has assured that in Kiev they have “no sign” that China could supply Russia with weapons, thus contradicting the US authorities, who have recently warned of this possibility.

“I do not share the opinion that China can supply weapons to Russia (…). I do not think that China agrees to the transfer of arms to Russia (…). I do not see any sign that such matters are even being discussing,” Budanov said during an interview with the Voice of America radio station.

Questioned about the alerts launched from the United States, Budanov has stressed that, as head of Ukrainian Intelligence, his job is to base himself “only on facts” and not pay too much attention to the “opinion of individual people.”

Budanov thus responded to the warnings issued a little over a week ago by the United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, who announced that the Chinese authorities were studying the possibility of supplying Russia with weapons and ammunition.

“To date we have seen that Chinese companies (…) provide non-lethal support to Russia for use in Ukraine. Now we are concerned that the information we have is that they are considering providing lethal support,” said the head of US diplomacy. .

Thus, from kyiv they have lowered the tension in this regard, assuring that they have no indications in this direction, and have even ruled out that North Korea is sending weapons to Russia.

“Almost the only country that really transfers more or less serious weapons is Iran (…). There was information that something was coming from North Korea, but we have no confirmation of this. There is not a single case in which we register that some weapon that came from North Korea was used here,” Budanov said.

However, the head of Ukrainian intelligence has acknowledged that Russia is trying to buy weapons in countries aligned with the Kremlin in an attempt to circumvent the sanctions imposed by a large part of the international community.

According to Budanov, after failing to receive weapons from Serbia, Russia is now studying the possibility of contacting the Burmese authorities. “We will see what comes out of this. In terms of weapons, Russia limits itself to Iran”, he has settled.
