Ukraine’s Defense Minister, Oleksi Reznikov, has assured that they are “in direct contact” with the founder and CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, so the proper functioning of his company’s Starlink satellite communication terminals is not in danger. SpaceX, “essential” for the Ukrainian troops.
“I know that we will not have problems keeping the service running,” Reznikov confided in an interview for the US media Politico, where he also referred to the “personal communication” maintained by the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Mijail Fedorov and Elon Musk.
The billionaire tycoon has said on several occasions that the more than 20,000 Starlink terminals donated to Ukraine will cost the company about 100 million dollars, suggesting that it would not be “reasonable” to finance Starlink in Ukraine without some kind of compensation from the Pentagon.
Reznikov has pointed out that Fedorov has been “really positive” after his “direct” and “personal” conversations with Musk, so he trusts that this service will remain active, with which it will be possible to provide access to telecommunications and the Internet both to civilians and troops throughout Ukraine.
“If it’s just a question of money, we have a minimum of three sources,” Reznikov reassured, listing the “Pentagon aid package,” the “huge amount of money from Europe” and even private donors.
