UK believes Iran's program "is more advanced than ever"

LONDON, 19 Nov. (DPA/EP) –

The British Foreign Secretary, James Cleverly, has warned this Saturday that the threat of Iran’s nuclear program is “further advanced than ever”.

In remarks made during his appearance at the international security conference in Bahrain, Cleverly has accused the Tehran regime of spreading “bloodshed and destruction” around the world.

The minister has warned that Iranian-supplied weapons are threatening security in the region and beyond, especially denouncing the Iranian-made drones that Russia uses to attack civilian infrastructure in Ukraine as an example of its influence.

“The weapons provided by Iran threaten the entire region,” he made known at the Manama Dialogue Forum. “Today, Iran’s nuclear program is more advanced than ever, and the regime has resorted to selling Russia the armed drones that are killing civilians in Ukraine.

“As its people demonstrate against decades of oppression, Iran’s rulers are spreading bloodshed and destruction as far away as kyiv,” he lamented.

“The United Kingdom is determined to work together with our allies to counter the Iranian threat, prohibit the smuggling of conventional weapons and prevent the regime from acquiring the capacity to develop nuclear weapons,” the minister stressed.
