March 28 (Portaltic/EP) –
The video game developer Ubisoft has confirmed that it will offer its own event, outside of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) this year 2023, and that it will take place just one day before it begins, on June 12.
E3 will take place at its usual venue in the Los Angeles Convention Center (United States) and will be held from June 13 to 16 “with a renewed format” that separates the dates of Industry Days and Gamer Days, as well as E3 Digital week, scheduled for June 11.
The organizer of this year’s edition, ReedPop, confirmed a few days ago the participation of large video game companies, the so-called AAAs in the sector, as well as other popular ones from the indie segment.
However, the 2023 edition will not feature one of the giants in the ‘gaming’ sector, Microsoft, which will be part of E3 virtually and will broadcast in an ‘online’ format the Xbox Games Showcasescheduled for June 11.
Now it has been Ubisoft that has reported that it will not be present at E3 either, but will hold its own event called Ubisoft Forward Live on June 12 also in Los Angeles, as confirmed to VGC.
The company has acknowledged that “initially” it had the intention of presenting its news in person at this event but, finally, it has made the decision to move “in a different direction.”
Nintendo, For his part, he will not join E3 either because this year the well-known event “did not fit” in his plans, as he confirmed to VentureBeat after IGN reported his absence in early February. Then, the Japanese developer assured that he would continue “supporting the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) and E3.”
The presence of sony with its news for PlayStation is also in doubt, according to sources consulted by IGN, although everything indicates that it will continue to be removed from E3, since it has not held its presentation event at this fair for years.
